Quality Education

Canada spends more per capita on its education system than any other country in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). A Degree/Diploma from a Canadian Institute is recognized worldwide. International students who graduate from Canadian Institutions enjoy successful and prosperous careers. About 10% of Canadian universities rank among the top 200 universities in the world. Canada is known for its quality education & competitive entry requirements. The number of foreign students who went to Canada grew by 8% (1.2 million) resulting in the highest number of foreign students ever admitted. 

Inexpensive

Canadian Institute, charge lower tuition fees for international students than their counterparts in competing countries and at the same time, maintain excellent educational quality. However, as the fees are more affordable, admission is more competitive. Over the last three years, Canada`s inflation rate has remained one of the lowest in the industrialized world. 

PR & Immigration

International students can apply for their Permanent Residency which takes up to 15 to 18 months from within Canada. However, they need to meet the minimum eligibility criteria of 67 Points.

WORK DURING AND AFTER AND CO-OP PROGRAM

Full-time students are eligible to work off campus without a work permit up to 20 hours per week & full-time during vacation. Several programs may even have a paid co-op term where one gets hands-on experience working in the industry. These may even be paid co-ops. Further students on the completion of their program can work up to 3 years depending on the length of their study program. 

Types of Certification

  • Certificate: This is a qualification awarded upon successful completion of a program which is usually one year in length. 
  • Diploma: This is a qualification awarded on the basis of one or two years of successful study. 
  • Advanced Diploma: This is a 3-year program some of which may lead to a bachelor’s Degree. 
  • Bachelor’s Degrees: Are awarded by University/University Colleges/Community Colleges after four years of full-time study and lead to graduate-level studies. 
  • Post Graduate Diploma/Certificates: It is a specialized applied course of 8-12 months leading to a certificate/Diploma. It is preferred by students instead of a Masters degree. These programs have work terms that provide full-time opportunities to gain practical experience along with theoretical studies. A typical co-op term lasts 12 to 17 weeks. The prerequisite to participate in these programs is a bachelor’s Degree of 3 or 4 years duration. 

Masters Degree: It is an option for bachelor’s Degree students, Graduates who have an interest in further learning and research, and those who want.

Intake

International students are expected to start planning for their studies in Canada 1 year in advance. The major intake for Canada primarily is `Fall` i.e. September. The other intake is in the month of ‘Winter’ i.e. January, but it depends on the student’s program and the institution that / she is applying to. Very few institutes might have the May intake as well. 

Scholarships

There are limited scholarships available in Canada but they rarely cover the full cost of a study program and they are not always easy to find. Scholarships are available to International students with exceptional results at some Canadian institutions. The amount awarded varies from one institution to another and usually covers only part of a student’s education and living expenses. Obtaining a scholarship is very competitive and applications must be made directly to each university along with the application for admission. Community and Career Colleges do not usually award scholarships nor do school boards or most private schools. 

English Requirement

All students must be fluent in English if they are applying to Canadian Institutes. International students need to reach the required level of English language competence. All students take up the IELTS or TOEFL (ibt) exams. An IELTS band of 6.0/6.5 for Undergraduate & 6.5/7 for Postgraduate courses or a TOEFL score of 80 and above for Undergraduate and 90 and above for Post Graduate courses is required. 

Work During Studies

International students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week off–campus during term time and 40 hrs per week during their vacation. They can earn approximately C$11-C$14 per hour. Students can work full-time off campus during co-op terms, amounting to between C$700 to C$900 per month.

Canadian Student Visa

All overseas students are required to obtain a Student Authorization and Visa before going to Canada for students. Students must also meet the requirements of the Canadian Immigration Act and Regulations. Under normal circumstances, allow at least 4-6 weeks for your visa to be processed. Students are not allowed to obtain an authorization offer upon their arrival in Canada. The application should be submitted well in advance of the planned date of departure to ensure that the processing of the application can be completed on time. 

Submit the completed application kit to the immigration section of the Canadian High Commission. Kindly note that all documents submitted must be photocopies. One can also apply for a Study permit online. 

Applications will now have to:-  

  1. Have an IELTS score with a 6 overall score and a minimum of 6 in each band (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) taken within the past 2 years for both UG and PG students. 
  1. Purchase of a special Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAD$10,000 to cover living expenses for the first year of stay in Canada from the following participating banks:- 
  1. Scotia Bank b) ICICI Bank       c) SBI Canada Bank       d) CIBC 
  1. Proof of payment of the tuition fee to the college for one (1) year.
